  • Full time, Fixed term until 30 June 2025
  • Attractive VPS 6 salary between $130,673 - $174,869 + superannuation
Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities delivered through Emergency Management Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Sector Performance and Reform and emergency management statutory entities and offices. The work of the group supports the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, government, agencies and business to achieve our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities and to rebuild and recover after an emergency.Emergency Recovery VictoriaEmergency Recovery Victoria (ERV) is responsible for state and regional coordination for all emergencies to help communities build back better and emerge stronger. ERV is a business unit within the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Working directly with impacted communities, all levels of government, agencies and industry, ERV coordinates real, effective and timely support that communities need to recover after a major emergency. As well as providing strategic leadership on whole-of-government recovery activities and delivering state recovery outcomes, ERV supports locally led recovery efforts through support of councils in ensuring that community is at the centre of recovery.The Regional Recovery Coordination, Operations and Programs Division under ERV has established three operational teams as follows:
  • Regional Recovery East - Hume, Eastern Metro, South East Metro and Gippsland
  • Regional Recovery West - Loddon Mallee, North West Metro, Barwon South West and Grampians
  • Recovery Programs Coordination and Delivery - responsible for the establishment and delivery of recovery programs at a state, regional and local level.
What will the role do?The Community Recovery Facilitator is part of a regional team that leads ERV's place-based recovery with local government, Community Recovery committees and other key community groups and organisations at place. This role will ensure local operations and programs are designed and effectively delivered to Victorian communities who have been affected by disaster.This role will lead community engagement and provide support in the region. The Community Recovery Facilitator supports recovery priorities and transition in the region to ensure the recovery services provided are integrated in a timely manner and are tailored to the needs of the community.Key tasks include:
  • Support local government to lead local recovery, including by providing support and advice on the operation and activities of Community Recovery committees and other key community groups and organisations with a role in recovery.
  • Ensure Community Recovery operations are delivered in a high quality, up-to-date and accurate manner through customer- focuse and alignment to ERV's recovery framework.
Please refer to the position description for more detailed accountabilities.What skills and knowledge should the Community Recovery Facilitator have?You will have proven disaster recovery experience, strong relationship management skills and a demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively and ensuring the highest standards of performance and integrity are achieved. This is a key community-facing role that will build genuine partnerships between all levels of government and communities.
  • An understanding of government processes is desirable
  • A Victorian Driver's licence is required for the role
  • A relevant qualification and at least 5 years of sector experience is desirable
