ABOUT THE ROLE
Position
The position of Community Recovery Officer has been created to support the community of the Ballina Shire in recovery after the February 2022 flood events.
Reporting to Council’s Manager Asset Management and Resource Recovery, this position is responsible for identifying needs, developing local recovery programs, assisting in accessing information and resources and providing leadership and community capacity building. A key responsibility of the position will be to work closely with the community, Council staff and other Government and community groups to facilitate appropriate and effective community-led recovery activities and programs that reinforce a resilient and cohesive community and assist with future disaster preparedness.
This position is for a temporary period of up to 24 months.

- Qualification (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) in social work, social sciences, community development, community welfare plus a minimum two years’ experience or substantial community development/community recovery experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community development and disaster recovery principles, practices, standards, and related disciplines and awareness of contemporary trends and issues and their application and impact.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse problems and formulate solutions based on the practical interpretations of policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build partnerships and consult with a diverse range of people and deliver services using initiative and creativity.
- Demonstrated well developed communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated planning and project management experience, utilising experience in the creation and activation of community development plans and activities.

- An annual salary range of $79,800 to $91,600 (plus 10.5% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
