COMMUNITY RECOVERY OFFICER12 MONTH CONTRACT

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above permanent full-time position of Community Recovery Officer to be based at either Gundagai or Cootamundra Office.

The role of Community Recovery Officer is responsible for the establishment, communication and management of strategies and plans that support COMMUNITY RECOVERY in the event of peak events including natural disasters.

The position incumbent will work closely with the community and relevant state and federal authorities to identify needs, develop local recovery programs, assist in accessing information and resources and provide leadership and community capacity building and re-building. This includes:

  • initiating and supporting key committees and working groups
  • establishing, monitoring and evaluating local recovery programs and activities
  • establishing cooperative disaster recovery networks across government, non-government and community groups that can assist COMMUNITY RECOVERY and develop local infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The establishment of emergency strategies and plans that ensure as far as practicably possible, the expeditious implementation of preventative and/or mitigating community support and recovery actions.
  • Firmly establishing Council’s position within, and actively supporting and contributing to the relevant local, regional and national panels / forums and disaster response committees in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for the community and other local stakeholders.
  • Liaising, consulting and two-way communication with local committees and stakeholders in the development or promulgation of emergency planning and response initiatives.
  • Continually monitoring trends, forecasts and recommendations and reviewing Council’s strategies and plans to ensure currency and responsiveness of them.
  • Continually monitoring and establishing a strong understanding or relevant legislation, ministerial and other guidelines and codes of practice, and for ensuring that Council’s strategies and plans comply with them.

Re-advertised ROAD SAFETY OFFICER Full Time – Grant Funded up to 30 June 2025 – COOTAMUNDRAWe are looking for motivated Road Safety Officer to cover both our Cootamundra and Gundagai areas. You will have a strong customer focus and enjoy working with community groups and government agencies.
The function of this role includes developing, implementing, and promoting: –
– effective community road safety programs in conjunction with key stakeholders.
– a Road Safety Plan to encourage local residents to be safer drivers, pedestrians and road users.

This position develops and maintains geographic information systems (GIS) and asset management systems to record all Council assets including details such as location, cost, and condition, and ensure such systems are maintained and accessible. Also to plan and carry out asset inspections and survey, in a timely manner, for roads, footpaths, culverts, bridges, stormwater drainage, water and sewerage facilities and other capital or maintenance works projects, including public recreational facilities, to ensure the location and condition of the asset is adequately determined and monitored.

DESIGN COORDINATOR – Full Time – GundagaiWe are currently looking for a Design Coordinator in Gundagai.
The successful applicant will need to lead the internal design and asset functions of Council including supporting GIS/Asset Officer, Road Safety Officer and other design and assets staff members to maximise the benefit to the community.
To carry out professional civil engineering survey design and estimating works for roads, footpaths, culverts, bridges, stormwater drainage, water and sewerage facilities and other capital or maintenance works projects, including public recreational facilities, to ensure completion to engineering standards and to support other internal staff deliver projects and maintenance obligations across all of Councils infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:1. Investigate and design civil infrastructure projects in line with Council’s forwards works and delivery Program e.g. roads, parking, water, drainage, and sewer systems.
2. Ensure that the relevant Council’s policies and practices are implemented and supported in the design and assets section and that these meet the requirements of relevant legislation.
3. Provide quality construction and design drawings liaising with others involved to meet client and Council needs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
4. Develop and maintain systems to record all Council assets including details such as costs and condition, and ensure such systems and records are accessible and utilised by all appropriate users within Council.

OPERATIONS ENGINEER – Full time – CootamundraWe are currently looking for an Operations Engineer in Cootamundra.
The successful applicant will lead Council’s Engineering operations team, which includes GIS / Assets, roads, road safety and related functions in the planning, delivery, maintenance, upgrade and improvement of Council’s roads and related assets.

b. timely delivery of infrastructure and solutions to the Cootamundra area are within regulatory and quality / specification requirements.
2. Lead in the planning, development and implementation of capital works projects, including specifications and in contractor management for all improvement and replacement initiatives.
3. Plan for and undertake end-to-end tender processes in accordance with Council policy and procedures for the engagement and co-ordination of Contractors required for project and operational works.
4. Prepare budgets for new proposed works and ensure that all related operations, projects and initiatives are delivered within budget.

Operations Engineer PD

WATER & SEWER COORDINATOR -Full Time – CootamundraWe are currently looking for Water & Sewer Coordinator in Cootamundra. This position is to lead the internal water and sewer functions of Council ensuring that construction, operation, maintenance to water supply and sewerage infrastructure is performed effectively and efficiently. To deliver quality water supply and sewerage systems, in accordance with environmental and health standards, and State legislation.
Key responsibilities include:1. Provide leadership and direction to the Water and Sewerage team to ensure the:
1.1 safe operation, monitoring, quality, maintenance, monitoring improvement and / or development and construction of infrastructure, systems and processes,
1.2 timely delivery of Water and Sewerage services to the Cootamundra delivery area within regulatory requirements.
2. Lead in the planning, development and implementation of capital works projects, including specifications and in contractor management for all improvement and replacement initiatives.
3. Plan for and undertake end-to-end tender processes in accordance with Council policy and procedures for the engagement and co-ordination of Contractors required for project and operational works.
4. Oversee and maintain an effective performance and quality monitoring programs for all plant, systems and assets in order to ensure quality compliance, safe and optimal utilisation.
5. Ensure appropriate risk management practices for all projects within the Cootamundra delivery area, and constructively communicate project standards and safety requirements to the work team.
6. Ensuring works carried out are compliant with specifications and plans including undertaking Dial Before You Digs (DBYDs) for all excavations.
7. Complete annual returns, works and other reports as required regarding work completed, project expenditure and status, budgets, QA, WHS, contractor and environmental compliance.
8. Assist with the development of Works Proposal submissions for upcoming/proposed works on all assets when required including liaison with engineering staff to determine project scope and work scheduling.
9. Ensure that water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure construction, maintenance, materials, components and methods meet Council and all other relevant legislative
requirements.
10. Provide administrative, data extraction and informational assistance to facilitate water, sewer and stormwater projects, maintenance and compliance requirements, including compliance with EPA requirements.
11. Manage the timely and professional response to customer questions and complaints via Council’s Customer Actions system, and act as an escalation point as and when required.
12. Ensure water and sewer employees adhere to operational and safety standards including compliance with relevant confined spaces legislation.
13. Ensure that the efficient operation of the Sewage Treatment Plant, pump stations and effluent re-use systems and effective operation of sewer reticulation for the Cootamundra delivery area.
14. Oversee the metering of raw water, treated water and reticulated water quality is maintained and complies with Australian drinking water quality guidelines.
15. Provide input into the development of strategic plans for water, sewer and stormwater.
16. Contribute to maintenance of Council’s Asset Database and undertake asset inspections of water, sewer& storm water assets.
17. Co-ordinate work team to be available to respond to customer service requests.
18. Review timesheets and applications for leave, and action them appropriately.
19. Work with and support members of the team in order to ensure the on time delivery of functional work and delivery of service to the community.
20. Assist team members to resolve problems and promote a cohesive team environment.

Water and Sewer Coordinator Cootamundra

SEWER & WATER ATTENDANT – Full Time – GundagaiWe are currently looking for a motivated Sewer & Water Attendant in Gundagai.
This position undertakes day to day operations, repairs and maintenance of Council’s Sewer & Water Treatment Plants, pump stations, reticulation systems, and reuse facilities, in accordance with environmental and health standards, and State legislation.
Key responsibilities include:1. Ensures the efficient operation of the Sewage & Water Treatment Plants, pump stations, reticulation systems and reuse systems, through ongoing monitoring, maintenance & repairs, and construction.
2. Ensures sewer sampling, testing, and recording is undertaken to meet required standards of treated and recycled effluent.
3. Ensures the grounds of the sewage and water Treatment Plants facility and related work areas are maintained and presented to required Council standard.
4. Ensure that all activity undertaken at Plant worksites is conducted safely.
5. Attend to sewer and water supply emergency calls and ensure customer requests are attended to promptly and efficiently.
6. Be available to respond to on-call activities on a rotating on-call roster.
