Moorditj Koort Aboriginal Corporation (MKAC) is a community controlled, not-for-profit organisation supporting the health and wellness of First Nations peoples living in Western Australia. The Vision is to contribute to healthy and flourishing First Nations communities across WA by providing access to a holistic one-stop-shop for health and wellbeing support.
About the Role
A Community Transport Driver offers transportation services for the Integrated Team Care (ITC) and MKAC programs. They play a crucial role in delivering these programs to the community, particularly by supporting First Nation people access essential health and social care services. The Community Transport driver maintain strong connections within the local Aboriginal community. Their responsibilities include non-clinical tasks, such as assisting clients with travel to their medical appointments, whether short or long distances.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting First Nations people to travel to and from medical appointments, short & long-distance travels is essential,
- Preparation prior to transports, ensuring you have the correct running sheet and client details.
- Refueling & maintain clean vehicles.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with consumers and co-workers.
- Promote information to First Nations people about how to access MKAC services.
- Liaise close with Care Coordinators to identify barriers, update of clients concerns if required
- Complete workload notes after each service provided on MKAC client data base
- Participate and support community Events (NAIDOC, Sorry Day, CTG)
- Frequent wellbeing phone calls to clients
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM SELECTION CRITERIA
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
- A high level of verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative and work autonomously.
- Proficiency with literacy of information and communication technology including desktop computers, word processing, spreadsheet and database software packages.
- Demonstrated planning and organisational skills, especially in relation to setting priorities and meeting deadlines
Essential Certifications
- Valid Western Australian Driver’s License
- National Police Clearance (no more than 3months expiry)
- Working with Children Check (WWC Card
- COVID-19 Vaccine Certificate
- First Aid certificate or willing to obtain
