RSL Tasmania are the state’s Peak Body, and largest Ex-Service Non- Government Organisation in Tasmania. We provide Wellbeing, Employment and Compensation services to Veterans and their families across the state. Our Wellbeing team advocate for the best possible outcomes for all current and ex-serving Veterans making Tasmania a place where Veterans and their families can thrive.
THE POSITION
Compensation Advocates provide assistance to Veterans with claim and appeal matters to the Department of Veteran Affairs. You will support Veterans with applications of service-related conditions, and liaise with a range of stakeholders and health care professionals to assess their compensation, medical and rehabilitation support requirements.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE PART OF OUR TEAM
You do not need previous experience as a Compensation Advocate to apply, but you must be willing to complete Level 1 and Level 2 Military Compensation training and Mental Health First Aid training. We will cover the cost of this training and provide ongoing support and mentoring as you learn the job and complete your training.
You will have strong administration skills, experience or knowledge with legislation and compliance frameworks, and the ability to work effectively to achieve client outcomes within those frameworks. You will have well-developed communication and problem solving skills, be highly organised, and the ability to be empathetic in a highly sensitive environment.
Ideally you will have a tertiary qualification in Community Services or a relevant discipline, and/or experience with case management, assessment and referral processes. An understanding and knowledge of the Veteran community would be an advantage.
