ABOUT THE ROLE

The Competition Manager – Northern Tasmania Junior Football Association (NTJFA) is responsible for the management, administration, and delivery of all NTJFA competitions. They provide operational support, advice and education to NTJFA Executive, clubs and key stakeholders to support the development, sustainability and growth of NTJFA Clubs and competitions.

This role is located in Launceston, Tasmania.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and manage NTJFA competitions in accordance with the relevant competition rules and procedures and all relevant national policies and guidelines. 
  • Manage competition fixtures, gradings, registrations and transfers, results, match day paperwork, tribunal & finals series.
  • Manage relationships with Club Presidents and other key club volunteers.
  • Provide support and direction to the NTJFA and respective clubs with respect to competition structures, rules and regulations.
  • Ensure viable and sustainable community club networks through effective and efficient club and competition governance.
  • Deliver education programs enhancing the volunteer experience and overall quality of the community football environment.
  • Work with the Participation team to grow football within the region.
  • Work with the Regional Manager and relevant AFL Tasmania staff to provide clubs with education and development support, including providing resources and implementing best practice solutions.
  • Provide support to maintain and prepare financial accounts and records as requested by the NTJFA.
  • Manage competitions within budgets provided and oversee all club invoicing and payments.
  • Attend and coordinate NTJFA committee meetings, meetings with clubs and club volunteers, weekend matches, functions and events as required.
  • Aid with the coordination and delivery of identified coach, official and participant training.
  • Any other tasks as reasonable requested.

OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Stakeholder management experience.
  • Organised with proven ability to plan and coordinate on a large scale.
  • Proficient technology use.

Mandatory:

  • Understanding of Australian Rules Football, particularly junior football rules, regulations and policies.
  • Experience in sport governance or competition management.
  • Experience with PlayHQ management system (or similar).
