In support of Fortescue's strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Heavy Industry projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet and rail locomotives.
Based out our new Redcliffe and Hazelmere R&D facilities and reporting to the Heavy Industry Principal Embedded Systems, we are presently looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Join a versatile software team in developing a world-first product for the rail industry.
- Collaborate with the Product and Quality teams to establish and administer the configuration management process for the Heavy Haul Rail products.
- Develop and maintain a configuration management system and processes suitable for a variety of systems and sub-systems, with a focus on Embedded Systems hardware and software.
- Review and manage pull requests, merge processes and ensuring code quality and consistency.
- Coordinate the release of hardware and software updates to assets.
- Manage and coordinate the distribution of binary, configuration and test artifacts from the CI/CD system.
- Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of version control systems (GIT), branching strategies, merge process is essential.
- Experience in developing and managing release processes.
- Experience in managing versioning of software and hardware to assets.
- Experience managing artifacts generated by CI/CD processes, such as test results, firmware files, configurations (JFrog Artifactory or similar).
- Skills relating to the full software development life cycle (documentation, requirements, testing, traceability).
- Knowledge of Embedded Systems and experience developing in C/C++ is advantageous.
- Experience in the rail industry is highly advantageous.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
