Enhance your love of nature by completing a Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management traineeship.
In this traineeship, you will learn about conservation restoration, wildlife protection and the restoration and rehabilitation of ecosystems.
Your duties may include:
Support ecological restoration
Maintain native ecosystem areas
Recognise fauna and plans
Undertake propagation activities
Plant trees and shrubs
Operate basic machinery and equipment
Maintain machinery and equipment
Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
There are 2 traineeships available, with 1 traineeship dedicated to providing the opportunity for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who would like to learn about conservation and land management. In this traineeship, you will learn about conservation restoration, wildlife protection and the restoration and rehabilitation of ecosystems predominantly within Councils Conservation Estates and Reserves that contain Cultural significance. You would be required to work 1 day per week with Wirrinyah Working on Country, and 4 days in our Natural Areas team working specifically on natural areas of significance to our local First Nations peoples.
The 12-month traineeship under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work Program will give you:

About you
To be successful in this traineeship you will:
Be organised, reliable and able to follow work instruction
Have a genuine interest in nature, the outdoors, plants and gardens
Be prepared to work in a team and communicate well
Be dedicated to completing a Nationally Accredited qualification
Ideally, have completed a Ready for Work course or equivalent
To be eligible to obtain a certificate during the traineeship, you need to:
Be a Queensland resident with Australian or New Zealand citizenship or eligibility to work in Australia
Have not completed this qualification previously

About the benefits
Traineeships are 12 month fixed-term, with a salary of $33,947 per annum, plus superannuation of up to 12.5%.
