The position will be primarily office-based until such a time as mobilization to the field is required. About the Role: As the Construction Lead – Surface, you will support early project activities, providing specialist construction expertise in matters related to Heavy Civil construction, including tunnelling and underground works, bulk earthworks and roads, dam construction, temporary and permanent utilities, material processing and site establishment. You will be responsible for the development of the construction execution strategy for one of Bechtel’s pre-construction studies in conjunction with the Bechtel Project Development team. Your duties will include: Provides specialist input into Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Risk, Estimating and Project Controls activities including development of, but not limited to: Project estimates Project construction schedules Tender documentation Documentation in support of project execution plans Lead development of Construction Execution Plan Coordinate and facilitate constructability, value engineering efforts, schedule development and estimating workshops with contractors and suppliers. Evaluate tender submissions from potential contractors and suppliers against pre-determined criteria. Review standard plans and specifications for constructability and conformance to regulatory requirements. Other duties as required. What You Bring: Degree in Civil or Construction Management, with experience on major infrastructure projects such as dams, tunnelling, mass earthwork, hydroelectrical or other renewable projects; including pre-construction. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction activities within the heavy civil discipline. Mechanical and Electrical discipline experience would be beneficial, but not essential. Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
