About the Role
The Parks & Gardens branch is responsible for the care, management, and operation of a comprehensive network of public open space and recreational areas, which have been established for active and passive recreation for the community and the preservation of the natural features of landscape and environment along the Sunshine Coast, largely within the urban environment.
The Project Lead is required to coordinate the delivery of a jointly funded tree planting project between the Sunshine Coast Council and the Commonwealth government, demonstrating the ability to
- Manage projects associated with the objectives of the Disaster Ready Fund across the region, primarily focusing on planning, procurement, and delivery of the tree planting program.
- Administer contract, risk, and financial management associated with the project.
- Ensure accurate recording of data including species, locations, dates, maintenance requirements and frequency, and resource requirements.
- Oversee sourcing and quality of nursery tree stock considering key characteristics as set out in relevant Australian Standards, guidelines, and best practice.
- Prepare and implement effective communication plans to ensure all stakeholders are kept well informed, providing timely advice to Councillors, management, contractors and employees on projects.
About you
As a Project Lead, you will have demonstrated experience and knowledge in arole delivering and maintaining efficientand effective day-to- day operations of arboriculture, horticultural, landscaping environmental, or construction tasks.
You will possess skills in investigation, analysis, and cost estimation with proven success in coordinating programs (including resource management) and monitoring project costs (including variations and claims) to deliver outcomes within agreed budget parameters.
You will have strong written and verbal communication skills with proven success in developing sound, professional and responsive working relationships, with an emphasis on providing quality customer service and negotiating positive outcomes.
As a requirement of this role, you will have a Diploma in Horticulture/Landscaping/Arboriculture/Project Management or other relevant technical qualification or extensive experience in horticulture, landscape and arboriculture,
Also required is a thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant industry standards and best practice including AS4373:2007 PruningAmenity Trees and AS2303:2018 Tree Stock for Landscape use, and CPCCOHS1001A - WorkSafely in the Construction Industry– White Card.
