Southern Pacific Sands are a leading material supplier of sand and concrete products in South-east Queensland. Over the last 25 years we have established ourselves as a reputable and successful wholesale supplier with the more recent expansion of the business into the pre-mixed concrete market.
We are looking to welcome a full-time Construction Material Tester to join our operation, based at Ningi, near Bribie Island. The opportunity is suited to a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and hardworking person who is capable of a physical role while maintaining timeliness and professionalism. As a Construction Material Tester, you will primarily be responsible for performing tests in accordance to AS 1012 and other relevant standards on freshly poured concrete and concrete samples both in the field and the on-site laboratory, with sand and/or aggregate testing, also be undertaken. The successful candidate will fill a role consisting of a 5-day working week, occasional Saturday shifts required.
Duties and key responsibilities:
- Sampling and testing of fresh concrete as per Australian Standards on construction sites
- Collecting concrete test samples from construction sites
- Ensure hardcopy test data maintained and entered into the business Construction Materials Laboratory software
- Undertaking quality assurance checks and ensuring all testing equipment are maintained and calibrated
- Undertaking testing of cured concrete samples in the on-site laboratory
- Sampling and testing of sand samples from the various production lines and stockpiles within the organization
- General housekeeping and maintenance
- Other tasks as deemed necessary and suitable the Technical Supervisor/Senior Quality Officer
- Assist with technical/sales enquiries and requests pertaining to specific products or blends;
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
- MSL40122- Certificate 4- Laboratory Techniques highly sought after
- Experience or knowledge of concrete/Construction Materials testing highly desirable
- Construction industry white card desirable
- Safety first approach to all tasks
- Enhanced digital literacy and communication skills with particular focus on data management and reporting
- Fit & healthy- role entails physical tasks in sometimes demanding conditions
- Ability to analyse and interpret results across a range of parameters within monitoring systems
- Demonstrated attention to detail and professional and clean presentation of work
- Manual driver’s license and willingness to drive manual vehicles on road
- Independent work ethic- strong time management skills
