The OrganisationYou will be working in a 400-bed public hospital that treats over 24,000 inpatients and over 225,000 outpatients every year. The hospital provides acute care services and is the primary referral centre for the North and North West regions of Tasmania. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical specialist services and has a cohesive medical team promoting high-quality services, innovation and research. It is a teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania with a strong emphasis on medical education.
The Job

• As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will provide anaesthetic services for the full range of surgical procedures at a tertiary referral teaching hospital to public and private inpatients and outpatients
• You will participate in all activities performed by the Department of Anaesthesia, including patient pre-anaesthetic assessment, clinical anaesthesia care, and involvement in the Acute Pain Service
• You will liaise with medical colleagues for the coordinated care of hospital patients and provide a consultative service to other specialist units
• You will have the opportunity to supervise and teach junior medical staff and medical students within the department and participate in clinical research
• You will participate in an out of hours on call roster with other specialist anaesthetists

Requirements

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent
