The Organisation
Work in a level 4 hospital that provides a range of acute and sub-acute services including community-based care to the residents of the northside of the city and Southern NSW. The hospital is a 270 public hospital and operates a 24-hour Emergency Department. Inpatient services include general medicine, surgery, maternity, mental health and critical care. Other service modalities include day surgery, specialist outpatient clinics, hospitals in the home, and the geriatric rapid acute care evaluation service that reaches aged care facilities across the ACT.
A new billion-dollar hospital is underway and will be a modern, state-of-the-art hospital for patients, visitors, and its workforce. It will also provide more beds and increased services.
The Job
- Consultant Anaesthetists provide anaesthetic services across ophthalmology, O&G, general surgery, elective orthopaedics, urology, ENT and some dental and plastic surgery
- You will join a friendly team committed to the practice of anaesthesia, perioperative medicine and acute pain management
- There is an opportunity for involvement in teaching registrars, guiding in examination preparation and mentoring for future career development in this cohort
- Consultants will supervise the educational and professional development of nursing staff, undergraduate students, post-graduate students, and resident medical staff associated with the Department of Anaesthesia, Pain and Perioperative Medicine
- As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will develop and maintain liaison with other centres, providers and professionals within and external to the Department and provide high standards of professional advice/opinions in relation to the service

Requirements
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent
