Consultant Cardiologist

Our client, an established public sector healthcare provider, operates a 350 bed secondary care hospital providing medical and surgical services across the southern region of New Zealand. 

The cardiology department is undergoing extensive redesign with expansion of interventional cardiology, diagnostic angiography and pacemaker implantation facilities. There is a well-established heart failure service and the service is implementing the national standards for cardiac care.

There are facilities for

• exercise ECGs
• ambulatory monitoring
• echocardiography (including TOE)
• diagnostic cardiac angiography
• percutaneous coronary intervention
• CT coronary angiography
• Cardiac MRI
• SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging
• insertion and follow up of permanent pacemakers.

It is seeking an experienced and motivated Cardiologist to participate in the continuing expansion of the Cardiology Service including the provision of community based cardiology services and the development of the hospital based secondary care service.
 

Responsibilities

• Provide non interventional cardiology services including the management of in patients and out patients, 
• Work 40 hours per week plus on call duties
• Teach and supervise resident medical officers (RMOs)
• Contribute to this hospital's wider medical team as an active and collaborative member.

Requirements

• Medical Degree recognised by WHO 
• FRACP or equivalent specialist qualification
• Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, or be eligible for vocational or provisional vocational registration
