The Role
We seek a motivated and experienced Consultant in General Medicine, who will work as part of the Department of General Medicine across the South region of Tasmania’s largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, this hospital collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All their services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.You'll be part of a department that strives to provide excellent inpatient and ambulatory care to the 250,000-strong population of southern Tasmania.General Medicine is the largest inpatient department in the hospital with excellent subspecialty support and opportunities for clinicians to be involved in research, clinical redesign, and quality improvement. As the appointment specialist, you are actively involved in the training of basic and advanced physician trainees and the supervision of international medical graduates. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an evolving department and contribute to positive change in the Tasmanian health system.The Role
  • Contribute to the provision of high-quality inpatient and outpatient care to public and private patients in General Medicine.
  • Contribute to the Department of General Medicine’s after-hours and weekend roster.
  • Provide professional leadership to medical, nursing, and allied health staff and foster interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Be actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as trainee and IMG supervision and mentoring
  • Be involved in research and undertake quality improvement activities.
  • Actively support and participate in service development to improve current services and develop new services in the Department of General Medicine.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand.The LocationHobart is the capital city of Tasmania that sits right on the water, it’s a picturesque and interesting place to explore.
