About this role
North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) provides timely access to high quality health care, embracing acknowledged best practice to deliver improved clinical outcomes in the face of rising challenges for all healthcare providers. The NMHS comprises a mix of tertiary, specialist and generalist hospitals. Our north metropolitan catchment area covers almost 1000 square kilometres. NMHS contains Western Australia’s largest Mental Health Service caring for youths, adults and older adults. Services are delivered through inpatient units, community mental health clinics and day therapy and outreach programs to a catchment area of almost 1 million people. State-wide and Tertiary Mental Health Services include research, forensics, neurosciences, art therapy, eating disorders and other specialised services.
The Hospital in the Home (HiTH) Service provides daily mental health care in the home of eligible consumers who would otherwise require admission to hospital. HiTH is a multidisciplinary team of mental health clinicians providing intensive mental health assessment, treatment and management provided in the home, enabling consumers to maintain their routines and fulfil their normal functioning and social roles, while still receiving the acute care they require.
The Consultant Psychiatrist is responsible for the psychiatric and medical assessment and treatment of patients under their direct care. In this role, you will provide clinical leadership, coordination and direction to a multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering evidence based best practice treatment and evaluates the provision of patient centred-care coordination, within recovery orientated model.
This role reports to the Head of Service-Consultant Psychiatrist.
