About the Hospital & Mental Health ServiceThis position is based in a large tertiary referral hospital in North Queensland. The hospital is the main referral hub for the region, offering a wide range of medical, surgical and specialist services to a catchment of approximately 700,000 people. The geographical span includes Richmond and Hughenden in the west, north to Cardwell, south to Home Hill, and east to Magnetic and Palm Islands. This hospital has extensive involvement in trial and research activities and is closely linked with James Cook University's schools of medicine.Contemporary mental health treatment and care focuses on individual recovery outcomes for children, adolescents and young adults on an in-patient and community care basis. The Child & Adolescent team provides comprehensive assessment, treatment, and management for children and adolescents up to 18 years of age with severe and/or complex mental health conditions. These conditions may include depression, anxiety, suicidal or self-harming behaviour, eating disorders, psychosis, trauma, and significant interpersonal and relationship difficulties.
