About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for a CI & Plant Engineer to join our fast-paced, high-volume beverage manufacturing plant in Wangara, Perth. This is a new position joining our expanding business, following the Dec 2022 acquisition of a local beverage manufacturing plant.
We are open to candidates with all ranges of experience, from Graduate to 5+ years. We believe every individual brings different strengths, and we’re focused on finding the right person to work collaboratively with the WA team.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, your key responsibilities will include;
- In conjunction with the leadership team, continuously reviewing systems and processes to improve key operational efficiency measures.
- Support engineering capital projects by creating and maintaining a stable, reliable manufacturing process through analysis of data and application of sound engineering practices.
- Review, update and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure that work is done safely and efficiently. Effectively collaborate with and seek input from operators and other staff to develop SOP’s.
- Actively recommend improvements or redesigns for equipment and processes to meet safety, quality, production and cost goals.
- Develop and implement viable methods of accurately measuring and recording production downtime and the factors causing and / or contributing to the downtime.
- Research and implement viable solutions to reduce or eliminate causes of downtime.
- Design and build performance and information boards for easy visibility of machinery performance etc.
- Compile maintenance of relevant documentation (drawings, equipment schedules, I/O listings).
- Identifying and implementing Continuous Improvement opportunities to refine department’s processes, procedures, models, and tools.
- Identifying, tracking and delivering production optimisation opportunities, including addressing high material usage / wastage and changeover processes.
- Managing technicians as assigned to execute engineering projects.
- Assisting with implementation of corporate projects and new product commissioning.
- Ensuring compliance with site quality and food safety programs.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent degree.
- Strong ability to build effective internal and external working relationships at all levels.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Project and MS Excel.
- Knowledge of 2D drafting tools - AutoCAD
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies & tools.
Advantageous
- Experience working in a Manufacturing – FMCG/Food + Beverage environment.
- Understanding of food manufacturing processes and hygiene requirements.
- Knowledge of business operations including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Knowledge of ISO and HACCP principles.
- Experience managing projects.
- Understanding of safety systems and processes including risks assessment, incident reporting and planned inspections.
- Previous experience working in an environment that utilised high speed packaging equipment, blow moulders, and filler lines will be highly regarded.
