Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth. Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
As a Continuous Improvement Specialist, you are passionate, detail driven, enthusiastic and willing to step-up to the challenge of being part of an innovative and achievement-driven organisation. Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Principal, you will be an essential part of Fortescue's Contracts and Procurement function. Joining a dynamic and fast paced team, you will support procurement governance and deliver best practise procurement initiatives. Providing guidance to all levels of the organisation and collaborating across functions and stakeholders to deliver new and improved ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
  • Providing advice on procurement and contracting processes to support Fortescue business requirements
  • Understanding key processes to develop procedures and template documents relating to source to contract, purchase to pay, contract management and implementation
  • Developing and executing risk-based compliance and governance plans
  • Supporting change management for process improvements with a focus on implementation of best practice initiatives
  • Providing timely communications to the Contracts and Procurement function on key process changes and initiatives
  • Fostering collaborative and supportive relationships with stakeholders both within the Contracts and Procurement function and across the business (e.g. corporate functions including Legal, Compliance, Finance)
  • Supporting and contributing to Contracts and Procurement group initiatives (e.g. learning and development activities)
  • Actively engaging with other functional areas to ensure procurement activities align and comply with whole of business requirements
Qualifications and Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact on all levels in a large organization
  • 5+ years' experience within a large, complex Contract and Procurement environment
  • In-depth knowledge of category management and the ability to understand and apply contract concepts
  • Demonstrated delivery of business process standardisation and improvement initiatives with an awareness of customer centered design and Continuous Improvement methodology
  • Experience in documentation development, drafting and review, including policies, standards and procedures and templates
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build key relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Strong written skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce or supply chain are desirable
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a global team (may require working across time zones)
  • Significant exposure to mining or heavy industry combined with extensive commercial experience will be highly regarded
