Job Summary
This role will be an agency managed contingent role based in our Brisbane office for an initial 12 month period.
The Contracts & Procurement Specialist will undertake the sourcing, selection, awarding and commercial management of goods and services required for ConocoPhillips Australia Operations.
The Contracts & Procurement Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Lead the process of procuring services and materials in a timely, efficient, and effective way by managing the stages of prequalification, bidding, evaluating, contracting, and awarding the contract.
- Preparation and collation of information and documents required for end-to-end sourcing activities.
- Working with stakeholders to identify and measure possible contract risks, identify, and implement suitable mitigations.
- Lead and facilitate proposal/tender evaluations.
- Conduct ongoing market intelligence and commercial evaluations. This may include the preparation of should-cost and lifecycle cost models.
- Co-ordination with relevant functions, such as Accounts Payable, HSE, Logistics, Finance, Legal, Information Technology, Engineering, Quality and Employee Relations.
- Prepare internal and external stakeholders contract approval documentation, and complete activities required to facilitate internal and external approvals.
- Ensure effective contract management after award - including setting up the contract, maintaining good relationships, resolving invoicing and systems queries, disputes resolution, evaluating contractor performance, contract amendments, contract value reviews/changes, claims etc.
- Review price adjustments requests from suppliers and compare them with contract terms and market conditions to achieve best value for money outcome.
- Support the Australian Business Unit Exploration and APLNG Downstream departments to manage their budgets related to purchasing goods and services.
You will be an experienced Contracts & Procurement Specialist, bringing to the role:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Law or Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of recent end-to-end contracts & procurement experience.
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
- Demonstrated skills in work planning, prioritisation, and management.
- A proven ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships and networks.
- Demonstrated commercial savvy - including understanding value for money and risk management.
- Experience in assessing and managing contract variations, including scope changes and price adjustments.
- Experience in Contract administration such as cost and warranty claims.
- Recent experience preparing and/or overseeing contracts for offshore/drilling campaigns (preferably local Australian projects).
- A good understanding of cybersecurity protections in contracts.
- Experience contracting in a hybrid and knock-for-knock indemnity regime.
