About Brisbane 2032
The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (the “Games”) will be the largest event in South-East Queensland’s history, with the potential to deliver transformational change to our region. As the name suggests, the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (“Brisbane 2032”) is responsible for organising the Games. Some of Brisbane 2032’s operational responsibilities include: raising revenue through sponsorship, ticketing and the sale of Brisbane 2032 merchandise, sourcing the goods and services required to deliver the Games, managing the temporary overlay and operation of the venues and recruiting thousands of volunteers as well as many other elements that are essential in staging a world class global sporting event.

With the countdown towards the Games firmly underway, you have the opportunity to be part of the foundational Brisbane 2032 team in supporting the delivery of this transformational once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all Queenslanders.

About the Position
The Procurement and Contracts Specialist will provide procurement and contracting support to Brisbane 2032. The successful candidate will initially work with a very small procurement/legal team to meet the procurement needs of the business. There will be a significant range of procurement activities as the organisation builds and prepares for the Games – there will be a wide range of materials and equipment for building, fitting-out and dressing venues, use of sports equipment, event production, and provision of food and beverage, energy, water, clothing, paper, merchandise, Information Technology (IT) services, logistics and accommodation.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Support procurement planning, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, as well as ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • All aspects of sourcing activities, including RFx development, RFx management, commercial negotiations, drafting decision papers and RFx compliance requirements.
  • All aspects of contract negotiation and drafting, working with the Director of Legal as required in relation to legal matters, to execute any approved contracts.
  • Supporting the functional areas in contract management, including monitoring delivery, quality, costs and risks, preparing variations and extensions, managing disputes and closing out contracts.
  • Directly managing contract performance for any Corporate Services contracts or contracts nominated to be managed by the Procurement functional area.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all procurement activities, transactions, and contracts in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Supporting any supplier management, customer, or community engagement activities.
  • Supporting any policy, governance and system reviews or implementation activities.
  • Supporting any audits, reporting or review activities.

About You
The ideal candidate will bring the below experience & competencies:
  • A strong team player who is happy to work in what will initially be a small collegiate team and then scale to a large and complex team as the organisation grows.
  • Legal qualifications are highly desirable (or ability to demonstrate advanced experience in procurement contracting activities).
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ relevant legal or procurement experience; a mixture of experience across public and private sectors will be highly regarded.
  • Experience delivering to deadlines and under pressure in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Proven commercial acumen and negotiation skills/experience.
  • Proven contract management skills/experience.
  • An understanding of the Queensland Government Procurement Policy will be highly regarded.
