The Star Brisbane, positioned at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct, will be Australia’s newest entertainment and leisure destination. Commencing a staged opening in 2024, The Star Brisbane will bring a range of unique entertainment options, world class hotels, dining, bars, luxury retail, gaming and a state-of-the-art Event Centre, transforming how people will play, shop and socialise in the river city.
The Cook, reporting to the Commis Chef will become an important part of our pre-opening team. This role offers the opportunity to produce food items relevant to the Chefs Department to the highest possible standards of quality and presentation whilst meeting established deadlines.
In your role you will initially have the opportunity to work across Treasury Brisbane whilst being involved in the opening of The Star Brisbane.
A few of your responsibilities
- You may be required to work across a variety of outlets.
- Prepares food in a clean working environment in line with business volumes.
- Assist with peeling, trimming and cutting of food demonstrating competent knife skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of and be able to use a broad range of cooking and food preparation equipment.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of a broad range of food preparation and kitchen equipment.
What we are looking for
- Can- do team attitude
- Sound knowledge of food safety regulations
- Attention to detail and well organised team members
- Previous experience working in kitchens or currently studying Cert 4 commercial cookery
You will be experienced in kitchen environments paired with a positive outlook. This role requires knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and OH&S standards and taking pride in keeping your section stocked and tidy. The role of the Cook is integral to the team and their success in providing an exceptional culinary experience.

About us
The $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development is being delivered by Destination Brisbane Consortium – a joint venture led by The Star Entertainment Group alongside its partners.
When complete, Queen’s Wharf Brisbane will deliver four new luxury hotels, more than 50 new food and beverage experiences, significant luxury retail, the restoration of nine heritage buildings and around 1,500 residential apartments.
