Job description

Pacow Australia is seeking a talented Cook to join our team in our country Hotel and Bar. 

Based in Western Australia, this is a pivotal role in contributing to the overall success of the business. We need your experience in the kitchen be the driving force behind our menu development and maintain the highest standards of taste and presentation in Western and Asian cuisine.

The successful person will have good people skills, a professional appearance, and be highly organised.

Tasks Required Include :

  • Ensure food is prepared and cooked to a consistently high standard.
  • Seasoning food during cooking.
  • Ensure all food is produced within budget requirements.
  • Ensure hygiene standards are maintained at a sufficiently high level and an approved food safety plan is implemented.
  • Storing food in temperature controlled facilities.
  • Monitor and maintain all kitchen equipment in correct operating order.
  • Handle all customer complaints and patron care as required in a courteous, friendly manner.
  • Advise Hotel Manager of any issues regarding the prep/ordering/stock control/food safety and quality.
  • Follow correct hygiene food handling practices and safety procedures.
  • Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality.
  • Regulating temperature of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment. 
  • Ordering of products used within budget.
  • Creation and Preparation of any menu items as required including creating an interesting Specials Board.
  • Assist all staff as required.
  • Guide / train / ensure correct documentation of new and old staff members in accordance with food and health and safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Responsible for running of all aspects of the kitchen including kitchen cost control including menu costing / control of all pricing margins to ensure the best Gross Profit / staff costs / ordering/ reconciliation of ordering/ monthly counting and recording of stock takes.
  • Demonstrate sound teamwork / organisational skills.

Requirements :

  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Cook.
  • Qualification in Cookery is highly regarded.
  • Experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen highly regarded.
  • Experience in kitchen management is highly regarded.
  • Knowledgeable in Kitchen and Food Safety.
