The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
This position will provide training, consultation, resources and support to Adult Mental Health and Child and Adolescent Mental Health teams within St George and Sutherland sector. The aim is to assist Mental Health services to better meet the needs of children in families where a parent or carer has a Mental Illness. The position also has a leadership role designed to increase the capacity of services to address the issues facing these children and families in both Hospital and Community Services.
The position will be responsible for the development of sustainable relationships with key service partners including Consumers and Carers, Families, Drug and Alcohol Services, Hospitals, Paediatric services, Population Health, Child, Youth and Family Services, Justice Health, Aboriginal Health, CALD initiatives, General Practice, Education, Family and Community Services, Non Government Organisations, Department of Ageing & Disability, Local Government etc to support the prevention, early intervention and treatment of child and adolescent mental health issues.
If you are an overseas qualified Social Worker, you are required to have your qualifications assessed by the AASW to meet the position criteria.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Selection Criteria: * Hold as a minimum a bachelor’s degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), general registration with and Occupational Therapy qualifications recognised by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia with Relevant post graduate qualifications in Mental Health and at least 3 years relevant working experience in the clinical area of the specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualification or equivalent experince deemed appropriate or a recognised 4 year degree in Psychology, along with full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).

  • Demonstrated experience in mental health and experience working with children and young people 0-17 years of age, their families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of family sensitive services for COPMI.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with a wide range of individuals and service providers.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and delivering training packages.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating innovative health programs.
  • Current NSW unrestricted Class C drives licence.
