Anglicare WA’s Kimberley team provide a variety of person centred and culturally appropriate supports, counselling, advocacy and education to people, families and their communities across a number of life’s challenges to promote empowerment, hope and positive change. Services span the core areas of mental health, FDV, critical incident response, alcohol and drug services.

This role will provide a comprehensive and coordinated response to individuals and families impacted by family and domestic violence through a co-located approach with WA Police and Child Protection and Family Support, that improves the safety of clients referred to the service.  You will work in partnership with the Department of Communities (Child Protection and Family Support) and WA Police, improving the safety of child and adult victims of family and domestic violence. You will participate in the joint triage of FDV incident reports, provide risk assessments and culturally appropriate and secure responses to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities, deliver face-to-face outreach to adult and child victims and advocate with and on behalf of clients with a strength based and child inclusive approach.

This max term, part-time (18.75 hours per week) opportunity is available until 30 June 2025 based in Kununurra. There is also the possibility of working additional hours until the 30 June 2024.


About you

You are a passionate individual who is driven to deliver a quality service for our clients. 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in assessing and managing risk and counselling clients affected by FDV, ideally including with individuals and families in Indigenous communities
  • Experience developing and delivering community education and groups, and/or other community capacity building initiatives, ideally including with individuals and families from Indigenous communities
  • Skills to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, especially Aboriginal people, including ability to communicate sensitively and effectively
  • Experience in working in a team, including case management and group facilitation
  • Skills to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, especially Aboriginal people, including ability to communicate sensitively and effectively
  • Excellent work skills including, written and verbal communication, organisation and ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Knowledge of current theories, practice, and literature in the area of FDV, including an understanding of the impact of inter-generational trauma and ‘Best Practice’ models of intervention for FDV
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and communities, history and context, including knowledge of local community infrastructure and networks

You also must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check and a WA Driver's Licence.

Remuneration and benefits

  • Maximum term contract until 30 June 2025
  • Salary from $101,876.5 + 11% Super
  • Electricity allowance of $1,000 per year
