POSITION OBJECTIVES
- To lead and manage Council’s operational workforce to develop a highly effective and safe operational team.
- To train and develop Council’s operational workforce to improve productivity.
- To manage and schedule Council’s operational workforce.
- To deliver assigned projects effectively and efficiently.
Areas of Specific Responsibility
- Manage Council’s operational workforce, including performance management, training and development, and safety.
- Oversee scheduling and resource allocation for tasks assigned to the operational workforce.
- Develop and implement service levels.
- Oversee town services to meet agreed services levels within allocated resources.
- Manage road maintenance activities, storm water maintenance, weed control, footpath maintenance.
- Manage Council’s waste collection, management services and heavy/light fleet and plant.
- Manage implementation of an integrated works tasking system within the operational workforce along with implementation of technology, process, or system change in the outdoor workforce.
- Manage assigned operational budgets effectively.
- Support the integration of asset management and operations.
- Provide or coordinate the provision of professional advice on operation, fleet and plant management.
- Manage the safety of assigned sites and projects.
Eligibility
- Hold a current Tasmanian Driver’s Licence – Provisional is acceptable.
- Experience operating minor plant and equipment is desirable.
- Previous experience with municipal works teams is desirable.
- Physically able to undertake a variety of strenuous labouring tasks.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical.
