Applications are sought from suitably qualified candidates wishing to be considered for the role of Coordinator Payroll Services (APS EL2/Director equivalent) within Business Services.
Business Services sits within the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Command. Business Services is a multifaceted branch, which directly contributes to AFP operational outcomes, providing support and enabling our people to deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment. The experience you bring to the role will benefit the organisation by:
- Providing high-quality corporate services to the AFP (supporting the frontline)
- Manage and implement business and system improvements to remove barriers, speed up decision making and increase efficiency (Reducing red tape)
- Provide training and help desk facilities to enhance partnerships, engage and work closely with our both our members and external stakeholders (enhancing partnerships)
The Coordinator is required to ensure outcomes are delivered in accordance with Business Services strategic priorities, regulatory frameworks, and the AFP Code of Conduct. It is expected that the successful applicants will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the positions as outlined below.
Business Services offers and employs a range of flexible work options by mutual agreement and in accordance with operational priorities including but not limited to part time and flexible work arrangements.
What will you do?
In the role of Coordinator Payroll Services, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to deliver Payroll outcomes. This role has in depth knowledge and understanding of the AFP business and the impact of roles and functions undertaken in relation to the organisations reputation in effectively managing Payroll Services functions. Reporting to Manager Business Services, Coordinator Payroll Services is a crucial part of the Business Services Leadership Team.
- Develop systems to process payroll account transactions
- Oversee processing of payroll changes and system upgrades
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies
- Supervise and coach Payroll Team Leaders and members
- Liaise with auditors
- Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports
- Deal with escalated and more complex payroll related queries and issues
- Implement strategies to lead the team to achieve desired outcomes within set timeframes
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application
- NV1 security clearance (Or the ability to obtain one)
- Proven experience as a payroll leader or similar role
- Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related legislations, preferably in the Commonwealth Government
- Ability to interpret, operationalise and apply Enterprise Bargaining Agreement, Determinations, Legislation and Internal HR Policies
- Sound experience with payroll software, particularly SAP/SuccessFactors
- Demonstrated leadership, strategic and analytical capability, including leading multiple and diverse teams
- Demonstrated ability to develop capability to support the AFP's workforce including guiding, mentoring and coaching as required
- Outstanding communication skills (written and oral)
