Our Key Venues section oversees our Aquatic and Leisure Centres. We deliver first-class activity and program choice, we promote Blacktown City as the leader in sport, recreation and Leisure and we give every visitor and customer a safe and memorable experience. Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope and Blacktown Tennis Centre Stanhope are award-winning regional venues located in Stanhope Gardens. The leisure centre opened its doors in 2003 and the tennis centre in 2016 and attracts more than 800,000 visitors per year.

We offer the community an exciting range of health, aquatic, leisure, sport and tennis programs and services. This includes indoor pools (including wave pool), spa, sauna and steam, Aqua Learn to Swim, gym, group fitness, creche, function rooms, 4 x court multi- sport indoor stadium, squash court and 16 x plexicushion tennis courts.

We have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity for an experienced, innovative and highly motivated individual to lead the operational teams at Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope and Blacktown Tennis Centre Stanhope. This position reports to the Manager Key Venues and has oversight of all operational matters at the venues. You will also be an important member of the Key Venues leadership team overseeing all Council’s Aquatic and Leisure facilities.

Position purpose: 

  • To coordinate and be responsible for the overall management and administration of Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope and Blacktown Tennis Centre Stanhope
  • To establish the designated facilities as viable and high-quality venues which meet the leisure and recreation needs of the Blacktown City community
  • This position works collaboratively with all positions across the Key Venues section through close liaison with leadership personnel
  • Act in accordance with the New South Wales Work Health Safety Act 2011, Work Health Safety Regulation 2017 and the Work Health and Safety Management (WHS) System.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Degree qualification in a related field
  • Solid experience and leadership in a related field
  • Human resource management experience
  • Financial management and control of operational budgets Business development including marketing and promotions
  • Team development and interpersonal skills to develop a customer focused and ‘can do’ attitude among personnel
  • Strategic outlook and innovation
  • Strong communication and problem-solving capability
  • Technical (plant) knowledge with proven aptitude and experience
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Class ‘C’ Driver’s Licence
  • Working with Children Check.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
  • Computer literate
  • Availability to work flexible working hours.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,092.25 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • Leaseback vehicle
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
