Coordinator Prosecutions

Your new role

We have a unique leadership opportunity for a Coordinator Prosecutions to join the City Safety and Health Team at Knox City Council

As our Coordinator Prosecutions, you will lead, motivate and develop a team in the successful delivery of Council’s prosecutions services, supporting Council’s regulatory compliance and enforcement functions in line with relevant legislation to achieve improved community safety and amenity outcomes. Working closely with services including Community Laws, Environmental Health, Animal Management, Traffic & Transport, Parking and Planning & Building; the Coordinator Prosecutions will provide guidance and expert advice in prosecutions and enforcement matters to ensure the successful delivery of their services to the Knox community.

You will represent Council in the prosecutions of offenders and all related responsibilities associated with court proceedings, including provision of legal advice across Council, services and beyond, preparation of relevant documentation and collaboration with departments to achieve successful prosecution results.

This is a permanent full time Band 8 Classified role based at the Knox Civic Centre. Remuneration will be $117,189- $131,577 p.a (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will need to thrive

The key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and extensive experience working in an enforcement and prosecutions role, including Court and Tribunal appearances.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to build high performing teams to provide direction, guidance, training and mentoring to staff with a focus on service excellence.
  • Extensive experience in the preparation of legal advice on a wide range of issues in line with legislation to a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including presentation skills, conflict resolution and negotiation, preparation of reports and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy review, development and implementation.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to investigate complex issues and provide recommendations.

Tertiary Law Degree along with registration and a current Victorian Practicing Certificate, combined with extensive experience in Prosecutions or related field in the public sector will be highly regarded.
