Colac Otway Shire Council are seeking an exceptional individual to join their organisation as a Coordinator Revenue Services.

Reporting directly to the Manager Financial Services, the position of Coordinator Revenue Services is responsible for leading and developing an experienced team in ensuring statutory requirements are complied with and continuously improving on databases, systems, and processes, whilst achieving high levels of customer experience to the property owners and rate payers within the municipality.

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • All duties of the Revenue department (ie: Rates & Accounts Receivable) are performed in accordance with Council policies, procedures and statutory requirements;
  • Ensuring the valuation system is updated and records are accurate
  • Ensuring all statutory requirements are met and all rates and property charges are determined, recorded, billed, and collected
  • Negotiate repayment schedules and instigate legal proceedings where necessary
  • Reconciliation of accounts
  • Developing, reviewing, and updating policies and procedures

To be successful in this role:

  • You will have demonstrated experience leading and motivating a successful small team of high-volume billing staff or similar
  • Extensive experience in a senior rating OR finance role, with the ability to understand and apply relevant legislation, standards and guidelines
  • Exceptional interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop complex written reports and policies
  • Demonstrated effective analytical, problem solving and investigative skills
  • A high level of organisational and time management skills

A tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce, business or a related discipline is required, or a combination of extensive experience and competence, sufficient to perform all duties of the position would also be considered.
