Full Time Permanent Position

Band 8 - Salary Range $120,224 - $134,591 per annum + 11% Super + ADO

Salary offered will depend on level of skills and experience.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to support the development and delivery of a large and diverse pipeline of Sport and Recreation infrastructure projects, which includes the provision of new sporting reserves, aquatic centres and indoor stadiums for the Melton community.

The Coordinator Sport and Recreation Development leads the team responsible for managing Sport and Recreation facilities and delivering services that support participation opportunities to enhance the health and well-being of residents in the City of Melton. Reporting to the Manager Recreation and Facility Activation, we are looking for someone who will work collaboratively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, is an excellent communicator and can lead and adapt to change. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to the Sport and Recreation Development team and work collaboratively across Council departments to help achieve Council’s objectives and drive a culture of continuous improvement. 
  • Oversee the management of Sport and Recreation facility leases and licences including management and operations contracts for aquatic centres.
  • Coordinate the delivery of strategies, plans, policies and the provision of strategic advice that supports Sport and Recreation infrastructure development, facility management and facility activation.
  • Provide leadership to prepare business cases and manage stakeholder relationships during the planning and delivery of sport, recreation and leisure related capital works projects.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area such as recreation management, community development or a related discipline with significant experience in Sport and Recreation and an ability to work collaboratively, lead and drive change. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with an ability to present to diverse groups of stakeholders. 
  • Experience in the management and operation of community sport, recreation and aquatic facilities.
  • Experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategies, master plans and policies.
  • Highly developed project management skills including the ability to lead the development of business cases and stakeholder engagement plans to support project delivery.
  • A current valid Victorian driver’s licence
  • Hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
