Role Overview:
Join UnitingSA in delivering exceptional care as a Coordinator for Mental Health Services. We currently have a vacancy available that can be based in either Port Pirie or Whyalla, overseeing both Flinders Upper North LHN, and Yorke and Northern LHN.
Drive the daily operations and development of person-centred psychosocial support services for individuals with mental illness and comorbidities. Collaborate with Government and Non-Government agencies for impactful change.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and guide Support Workers, Peer Workers, and placement students.
- Offer active guidance to staff dealing with complex consumer issues or systems.
- Cultivate and manage a positive team culture that embraces diversity.
- Conduct performance development, review, and planning for team members.
- Assist in facilitating and arranging staff training.
- Provide orientation to new staff members.
- Ensure effective and adequate staffing levels.
- Lead by example in processing referrals based on consumer needs and worker capacity.
- Collaborate with Senior Practitioners for team support after hours.
- Collaborate with other program coordinators and the Mental Health Services Leadership team.
- Actively participate and contribute to goal-oriented support services for consumers with complex needs.
- Assist consumers and the team in reviewing consumer Service Plan goals.
Skills & Experience:
- Extensive background in community services for adult mental health.
- Efficiently manage resources within budget constraints.
- Strong ability to set priorities and handle high workloads.
- Work effectively with service providers and community organisations.
- Participate in tender and report preparation with strong analytical skills.
- In-depth knowledge of mental health impacts.
- Apply 'Recovery' concept in mental health contexts.
- Experience in guiding workers, volunteers, and students for professional development.
- Apply State and National Mental Health Strategy and Standards.
- Manage external complaints and internal conflicts efficiently.
- Foster a positive team culture for collaboration and support.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Services essential (Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or equivalent)
- Qualification/training/experience specifically related to mental health
- Current DCSI Clearances
- Current SA driver’s licence
