About the role
A new opportunity is now available for a ‘Corporate Lawyer’, providing legal advice and support to Origin Energy Group companies. The role is primarily focused on advising on contracting strategies and reviewing contracts across Origin, legal operations and implementing regulatory change in the procurement space. The role will also support contracting on renewable energy and hydrogen projects that will enable Origin to lead the transition to a low carbon world.
Supporting the General Counsel, Head of Legal and the Senior Legal Team, you will deliver value to the Origin Energy Group companies through helping them achieve their goals. Working collaboratively with Senior Corporate Lawyers and other members of the legal team to provide high quality legal services, you will be the key business partner, and advise different Origin business units on procurement matters, for Origin’s upstream gas operations.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Advise different Origin business units on contracting strategies, and review, negotiate and approve contracts.
- Identify and implement efficiencies across the business.
- Advise and manage contracting claims and disputes.
- Implementation of regulatory change.
- Work with a legal process outsourcing (LPO) provider and other external providers.
- Develop and maintain a broad and deep understanding of nominated client business units and their objectives (in particular the integrated gas business), structures, assets and activities, and proactively identify and deliver on opportunities to add value.
- Provide high quality legal advice and well-reasoned recommendations.
- Assist with education and training of company personnel and develop work practices that minimise potential legal and regulatory risk.
What you will bring
With 5+ years PQE as an Australian qualified and admitted lawyer, you will have significant experience in drafting and negotiating a broad range of contractual documentation. Experience in procurement of major plant equipment and long-term O&M agreements for major plant.
