WeBuild as a D&C Contractor member, will be responsible for the successful delivery of the design and construction elements of the project, and we are currently looking to appoint Cost Controller.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Controller to join our Finance and Controlling team. The Cost Controller will be reporting to the Project Cost Control Manager and will be responsible for assisting in the analysis and management of project costs, monitoring budgets, and ensuring financial efficiency within the organization. This role offers an excellent opportunity for entry-level professional to develop their skills in cost control and contribute to the financial success of the company.
Responsibilities:
Assist in cost control activities:
- Collaborate with senior Cost Controllers to monitor project costs,ensuring adherence to budgets and financial targets.
- Review project expenses, in order to ensure proper cost allocation in the relevant Cost Breakdown Element.
- Review daily diaries collected from site to cross-check executed physical quantities and resources utilized are properly recorded an allocated.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, forecasts, and financial reports for management review.
Support budget management:
- Contribute to the development of project budgets by analysing historical data, cost trends, and other relevant information.
- Monitor actual costs against budgeted amounts, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
- Participate in budget planning sessions, providing insights and recommendations to optimize cost efficiency.
- Help maintain compliance with financial regulations and internal control procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve cost control processes, suggesting enhancements or implementing best practices.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Liaise with project managers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Assist in preparing cost-related presentations or reports for management meetings.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and external parties to resolve cost-related issues and inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, building engineering or construction management
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in cost control principles and Earned Value Management principles.
- Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in Infrastructure Construction Projects, with particular knowledge of Earned Value Management process.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- A proactive and results-oriented mindset.
- Prior experience in Infrastructure, preferred in Cost Control function (internships, co-op, or relevant coursework); Quantity Survey or Estimating might also be considered ad-hoc.
