Council Member (Non-Dietitian) – Dietitian and Nutritionist Regulatory Council

Dietitians Australia is the leading voice for nutrition and dietetics in Australia. Our mission is to champion the professional nutrition and dietetic workforce to empower people and communities. The Dietitian and Nutritionist Regulatory Council (DNRC) is the governance structure for overseeing the profession’s regulatory functions. 

Dietitians Australia is seeking experienced and dynamic individuals to serve as Council members. 

Council Member Responsibilities:

As a Council Member, you will have the opportunity to 

• Set the strategic plan for regulatory functions of the Australian nutrition and dietetic profession 
• Define and regulate professional conduct and credentialling standards for the nutrition and dietetic profession
• Oversee complaints against credential dietitians and Nutritionists 
• Govern accreditation standards and accreditation training programs 
• Govern qualifications for entry into the profession 

Meetings are typically (2-3 hours long). A commitment of approximately 8 meetings is required per year plus other ad-hoc meetings. The two vacant external Council member appointments are for a term of up to one and half (1.5) years (with possibility of extension) as determined by the Dietitians Australia Board.

Selection Criteria:

Applicants should have experience as in a leadership role, an understanding of the health sector, NGO/and or membership organisations and a demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Dietitians Australia to achieve the vision of being the leading voice in nutrition and dietetics.

External members (from outside the profession) must also 

• Demonstrate strong community connection
