Their counselling programs aim to reduce the emotional, social, and economic costs associated with disruptions to family dynamics. They offer a range of Family and Relationships programs to support individuals and families in various life situations.
Purpose of the Position: As a Counsellor, you will join an integrated team to provide high-quality, culturally appropriate counselling services. Your role will focus on strengthening family relationships, supporting children and adults' wellbeing, and addressing issues such as family violence and separation-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for adults, couples, and families using evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Provide trauma-informed counselling for children, including play therapy, to achieve agreed-upon goals and promote wellbeing.
- Engage with stakeholders and community agencies professionally to ensure holistic support for clients.
- Adhere to organisational policies, program guidelines, and safety standards, including data entry and reporting requirements.
- Actively participate in supervision, evaluation activities, and continuous professional development.
Selection Criteria:
- Relevant qualification in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work (additional counselling studies highly regarded).
- Demonstrated experience in counselling children, young people, adults, and families.
- Membership or eligibility to join a governing body (e.g., PACFA, AASW, ACA).
- Competence in evidence-based counselling approaches and strong interpersonal skills.
- Cultural competency, particularly with Indigenous communities.
- Australian citizenship or unlimited work rights, valid Drivers License, and Ochre Card.
- Satisfactory criminal history check and COVID-19 vaccination compliance.
- Non-smoking working environment adherence.
