About the opportunity

The Tasmanian School of Medicine is looking for an experienced healthcare professional to join their team as the new Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator for our Healthcare in Remote and Extreme Environment (HREE) courses.

This unique role is perfect for doctors, nurses or paramedics who have a broad range of experience in Remote and expedition health care.  It will see you deliver, manage, and provide quality assurance for units such as Expedition Medicine, Space Medicine, and Extreme Sports Medicine.

Your firsthand experience will help us to support our students as well as provide an opportunity for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to promote this exciting field of study.

What you’ll do:

• Undertake scholarly postgraduate (and if relevant undergraduate) curriculum development, course coordination, and coursework teaching of an exemplary quality.
• Provide academic leadership and supervision.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships inside and outside of the university to support educational opportunities for students undertaking specialised units in HREE.

­What we’re looking for:

• Qualifications in a relevant health profession, together with clinical, industry, or professional experience in Remote and Extreme Environments.
• Experience in higher education learning and teaching, especially in areas related to health professional education and clinical training.
• Experience in coordination and administration of academic programs, including in curriculum development and course delivery.
• Experience in managing academic teams, including in recruitment, probation, promotion, and workload allocation.
• Experience in maintaining and fostering strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

 Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $173,682 comprising base salary within the range of $130,713 to $148,446 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
