Course Developer and Trainer (Digital) – Child Protection

  • Full time $120,000 package including super 
  • Pennant Hills location with some WFH 
  • Additional paid annual leave at Christmas  

As the Course Developer and Trainer, you will work with a team of child protection specialists to develop and deliver digital training programs across the organisation. 

About the Role

The Course Developer and Trainer works within the Safeguarding Team to provide high quality learning opportunities within an organisation that spans Sydney’s North Shore, Northern Beaches and the Central Coast. The Course Developer and Trainer reviews, updates, designs, develops and implements contemporary, engaging, best practice courses, with an emphasis on digital solutions. The role is crucial in enabling a highly trained and compliant safeguarding focused workforce. The role reports to the Manager for Safeguarding.

About You

You are a seasoned Course Developer and Trainer who has expertise in writing course content and delivering digital training solutions, preferably in a human services or other highly regulated sector such as health, aged care, disability services or government agency.  You have a sound practical working knowledge of contemporary practices in adult education and online learning. You have experience working with storyboards and developing content in storyboard applications. You have an interest in developing business systems courses as well as working on a wide range of course topics. You have experience working with Learning Management Systems. You also have the ability to maintain awareness of current research, compliance frameworks, literature and best practice principles that underpin the material that you develop. You  have experience in video planning, production and editing as well as intermediate skills in MS Office. You have outstanding time management and organisational skills. You are resourceful and adaptable in your approach and have the ability to analyse problems and suggest solutions. You also have experience in managing projects, particularly those that pertain to the roll out of a Learning Management System.

This role has been assessed as requiring a Working With Children Clearance (WWCC) prior to appointment.

You will be able to meet most of the following selection criteria:

  1. At least two years demonstrated experience in a similar role;
  2. Knowledge of contemporary practices in adult education and online learning;
  3. An interest in developing business systems courses, as well as a wide range of course topics;
  4. Experience working with a Learning Management System and capacity to implement a Learning Management System from scratch;
  5. Experience working with storyboards and developing content in Articulate Storyline 360 or similar application;
  6. Video planning, production and editing skills;
  7. Ability to quickly get up to speed on regulatory frameworks, literature and best practice relevant to course content and delivery including the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS), Child Safe Standards (CSS) and Safeguarding best practice;
  8. A willingness to develop an understanding of the Catholic Professional Standards Ltd (CPSL) Safeguarding Awareness Framework audit requirements and capacity to develop training materials to support compliance with upcoming audits;
  9. A willingness to work with Catholic clergy in the development and implementation of safeguarding training programs across a Catholic Diocese;
  10. Project management skills and the capacity to roll out a digital training program project; 
  11. A proven record of working cooperatively with internal stakeholders including team leaders and compliance managers to achieve positive outcomes;
  12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write course content;
  13. High level skills in contemporary computer applications including the Microsoft Office suite;
  14. Tertiary qualifications in digital workplace training and assessment including a minimum Cert IV in Training & Assessment or equivalent;
  15. A current NSW driver’s licence.
