Crane Operator

Sino Iron is the largest magnetite mining and downstream processing operation in Australia, located 100kms Southwest of Karratha in the mining hub of the Pilbara. Our fully integrated operation features an open pit mine serviced by the biggest haul trucks in the world, a six-line concentrator and port terminal facilities at nearby Cape Preston. Our state-of-the-art power station and desalination plant are among the largest in the State.

The Opportunity

CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking an experienced Crane Operator to join our Site Support Services team. This is a permanent 2/1 roster FIFO from Perth.

Reporting to the Supervisor – Site Support Services, this role is responsible for operating variety of mobile cranes and equipment across the Cape Preston Site.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

• Safe and successful operation of mobile cranes
• Determine the type of lifting equipment required for a particular task and work closely with riggers and maintenance crews to ensure the lift is carried out in a safe and time efficient manner.
• Minor maintenance on cranes
• Rigging duties as required
• Updating relevant registers

Successful applicant will have:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining/resources sector with mobile cranes.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards for Crane and Rigging industry.
• Current WA HC or MC Drivers Licence
• Valid C0 – Open Crane Ticket
• Intermediate Riggers Tickets
• EWP, Confined Space and W@H tickets.
• Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) or ability to obtain.
• High level of commitment to safety and safe work practice.
• Able to work safely at heights and within confined spaces.
• You will have good communication skills, be flexible and able to work as part of a tight knit team.
