Crane Superintendent

Freo Group is the foremost provider of crane hire services and project material logistics management in Australia. The company provides crane hire, heavy lift, project logistics management, oversize transport, materials handling, warehousing and storage with support bases located across Australia.

Freo Group are looking to fill the position of a Superintendent leading the operations of our dedicated crew. This is a full-time position with coverage across the Hunter Valley.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational objectives of the region, ensuring our clients, team members and organisation work harmoniously and to industry best-practice standards. Reporting to the Branch Manager, this role will include a large amount of site contact hours and guiding supervisors and allocations with day-to-day objectives. 

The Role:

• Ensuring the delivery of our work is industry leading in all facets, in particular safety, efficiency and productivity ensuring client satisfaction. 
• Ensure all work practices are carried out in a safe manner as is possible and complies with all applicable legislation and FG’s Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures at all times
• Complete JHA’s/Hazard Control forms and assist Supervisors & operational teams ensuring a safe and healthy workplace through regular review and reporting. 
• Empower and lead Supervisors in all facets of their roles ensuring leadership engagement, continuous development and cultural alignment. 
• Ensure understanding of the corresponding EBA’s and industrial frameworks in connection to FG personnel 
• Ensure all dockets/timesheets have been collated & collected from operators on site, authorised and forwarded to appropriate personnel
• Coordinate the everyday operations of the company inclusive of crane inspections and job supervision and shutdown operations
• Keep management informed of business trends, and ensure growth and business opportunities are optimized
• Coordinate with site and management teams to accurately quote and schedule jobs and to provide work instructions 
• Perform day-to-day supervision activities of work crews in the execution of their duties 

The Person:

Skills and Experience

• Extensive leadership or supervisory experience working in the crane and rigging industry or in a similar construction, mining or heavy civil/mechanical projects would be beneficial. 
• Demonstrated experience manning large commercial contracts
• Operational and technical experience in crane operations; project management; financial management, allocations & construction methods
• Corresponding with clientele at a senior level 
• Experienced in leading a supervisory team with a track record of performance improvement. 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
