What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
As the Creative Strategist, you will partner with our Executive Creative Director and be responsible for creating world-class brand and product marketing campaigns across Consumer, B2B, International, which helps to deliver on Canva's ambition to be the worlds most loved brand.
Your remit will include leading the global brand platform strategy for our new international markets as we rapidly expand. As well as ensuring that Canva harnesses TV, content, digital, social and PR to deliver our messages. And collaborate with the media team to ensure the creative canvas is right for the idea and can deliver the results.
You'll take the Marketer briefs and distill them to interesting and unique creative propositions for our internal creative teams to use as their launch point for world class ideas. In addition, you'll continue to work with the creative teams to challenge and improve their work, ultimately delivering impactful campaigns at scale and speed.
With a deep understanding of culture, brand building attributes and creative process you'll be responsible for work across channels, events, products and more to create a cohesive and consistent narrative for the Canva brand.
You'll work at the crossroads of creativity, data and innovation. Steering creative output with new messaging and positioning hypotheses from our Product Marketing and Brand Marketing teams, testing new ideas, insights and strategies; and doubling down on those that are working.
You'll be surrounded by a talented creative team of 25+ designers, copywriters and motion designers across Australia and Philippines, inspiring them to constantly push the boundaries of creative effectiveness.
What you'll do (responsibilities)
  • Help achieve Canva's brand goals through creative marketing campaigns designed to position our company in a unique, consistent way across B2B, B2C, International Markets, Education, Enterprise and more.
  • Provide interesting and unique creative propositions from the Marketer briefs that give the creative teams fertile launch points for world class ideas. These should be based on unique, human insights taken from real world engagement with users and non-users of the product.
  • Driving creative technology and innovation to keep pace with the growth of the company.
  • Develop a deep understanding of consumer target's mindsets, attitudes and behaviours to inform strong creative development.
  • Learn from brand tracking, channel and business performance data to develop creative insights and propositions that drive outcomes for the Canva brand and business.
  • Partner with the creative team to enhance, challenge and develop the best creative ideas possible for each campaign.
  • Partner with our Executive Creative Director, Creative Operations Lead, and Head of Performance Marketing to set seasonal goals and advise on planning and organising to achieve those goals.
What we're looking for:
  • Someone with eight+ years of agency and/or client-side brand strategy experience, who has successfully built enduring campaigns and ideas that led to brand impact.
  • Experience working on brand development and refinement for global brands.
  • Proficient understanding of key brand metrics and the ability to measure success for your efforts.
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills, allowing you to communicate complex information simply and clearly.
  • You've partnered with creative teams and know what it takes to inspire great ideas.
  • You thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment that requires the ability to problem solve, drive chaos to clarity, and maintain personal resilience.
  • You're an energy giver with a positive outlook. A natural empathetic teammate, with a consistent track record of cross-functional leadership and partnership.
