About The roleAs a Credit Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping a thriving portfolio. This involves evaluating clients' creditworthiness, conducting risk assessments, and making recommendation on credit decisioning. Your insights will guide investment & lending decisions, contributing to clients' aspirations and sustained success. Additionally, you will lead the development of credit capabilities, ensure adherence to credit policies and procedures, and oversee the implementation and monitoring of credit functions.
Key responsibilities include:- Assessing loan applications from commercial lenders/brokers and overseeing them until settlement.
- Ensuring timely processing of loan paperwork, supporting documentation, and statistical data.
- Providing recommendations/approvals within delegated authority for daily transactions and customer requests.
- Liaising with lenders and brokers to offer clear recommendations for applications outside policy.
- Conducting end-to-end loan processing to exceed assigned loan and profitability targets, following Lending Policy and Procedures.
- Liaising with Senior Management on reporting aspects and ensuring adherence to the Risk Culture.
- Minimizing operational risks and potential losses by identifying and addressing concerns.
- Leading a back-office processing team and creating expansion plans based on volumes.
- Developing process maps and procedures for the team, ensuring their success in the role.
- Assisting with complex credit decision-making and providing innovative solutions.

- Overseeing all credit-related activities within the business, including liaising with the Risk team to ensure best credit practices and appropriate credit governance.
- Examining files for credit and collateral documentation assurance, regulatory compliance, and adherence to loan policies; reviewing technical exceptions and deficiencies.
- Providing approvals within a Delegated Lending Authority.
- Understanding the credit policy and ensuring overall quality within our risk appetite.
- Ensuring compliance with credit-related policies, regulatory guidance, and legal requirements.
- Building effective stakeholder management to ensure fluid access to information and improved outcomes.
- Driving cultural awareness focus on Credit & Compliance management.
- Embedding and supporting a positive and mature credit and compliance culture.
- Tertiary qualification in finance, legal, commerce, or accounting.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in the commercial/property banking industry, with at least 3 years at DLA.
- Experience with diverse product segments, including Prime, Non-conforming, and Commercial lending.
- Previous experience as a Credit Leader/Manager.
- Basic knowledge of relevant banking legislation.
- Well-honed credit analysis skills and financial statement analysis.
- Strong working understanding of credit frameworks and processes.
- Strategic and critical thinking applied in credit decision-making.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of documentation.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Effective stakeholder relationship management.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
