- Progression in remuneration - up to Level 8 - $72,838 (including uniform and industry allowances) + super (up to 12%) + leave loading - is available for this position upon meeting performance and training requirements outlined in a structured Crew Leader framework.

- 76 hour fortnight
- Location: Arana Hills and Petrie - please note, the Petrie based position location will be moving to a Narangba location in the coming months.
About our opportunity
This position will have you delivering assigned maintenance by leading and working with operational staff, identifying defects on Civil/Transport Infrastructure assets and providing suitable solutions to safely address defects or safety hazards in a timely manner to ensure the safety of our community.
More specifically, a typical day will see you working with a labourer and occasionally a machine/plant operator to carry out general maintenance on our civil and transport infrastructure by undertaking general labouring duties to maintain your dedicated run area ensuring it remains tidy and free of any safety hazards. This will include things like replacing signs, fixing various road defects, fixing pathway and kerb and channel defects, traffic island defects and maintaining other infrastructure/areas as required.
About you
Ideally you will have demonstrated current or recent relevant experience maintaining or working with Civil/Transport Infrastructure and experience leading other team members.
We are seeking someone with:
- excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to constructively communicate with other Council staff and members of the public alike
- experience undertaking manual operational tasks - ideally on civil infrastructure and/or performing similar duties
- the ability to utilise technology such as phones, tablets and laptops and use apps or software programs associated to update work orders, complete risk assessments, send correspondence and undertake other tasks
- a current truck licence (minimum medium rigid - MR)
- a Construction Induction card
You will also either hold or be willing to obtain a Traffic Management Implementation licence (or equivalent) and a High Risk Work dogging (DG) licence within 6 months of commencement. It would be considered desirable if you have completed a Certificate III in Civil Construction or another relevant field but not mandatory, though the qualification will be mandatory to progress through the Crew Leader Framework.
