About the role
The Crew Leader – Yellow Crazy Ant leads and upskills a team of Ecology Technicians in the delivery of the Townsville Yellow Crazy Ant Management Program. The purpose of this role is to provide field supervision for the delivery of Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication works, including the management of service quality, technical compliance, worksite safety and budget compliance.
The role provides sound technical advice to Ecology Technicians and works closely with the Operations Supervisor – Yellow Crazy Ant to identify resource capability and capacity needs in line with the objectives of the Townsville Yellow Crazy Ant Management Program.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Certificate III Conservation and Land Management or similar qualification and 1 year experience in the supervision and leadership of staff (desired).
- Current Pest Management Technicians (Domestic Pest) licence, or the ability to obtain.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to operate and lead others safely in remote environments. 4WD training highly regarded.
- Ability to safely operate and lead others in a range of light plant items, machinery and equipment associated with Yellow Crazy Ant eradication works.
- A high level of oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively and professionally engage with and influence others.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to achieve effective solutions to challenges and adapting environments.
- Effective organisational skills and ability to produce effective and efficient on-ground outcomes for identification, monitoring, and eradication of Yellow Crazy Ants.
- Experience in applying Workplace Health and Safety in an operational environment, including prestart inspections and site audits.
- Experience operating computerised equipment (e.g. data loggers, GPS, etc.) including the use of MS Office Suite and business systems.
- Inspect and Clean Machinery for Plant, Animal and Soil Material competency (desirable).
- Ability to obtain a Townsville City Council Authorised Persons and Local Government Worker card.
- Current unrestricted Queensland "C" class licence (essential).
- First Aid/CPR Certificate (desirable)
- Construction Safety White Card (30215 QLD).
- License to Operate a Forklift Truck (desirable)
