Job description

The Crew Planner is a key role responsible for managing day-to-day aircraft scheduling, crew assignments, and ensuring operational efficiency. This role acts as a central point of contact for various stakeholders. Additionally, the Crew Planner will act as an alternative when the Crewing Manager is unavailable to perform their duties.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Create and publish Aircrew rosters to ensure the ASLA Australia Flight Schedule is crewed.
  • Create Aircrew rosters in adherence with relevant Regulatory regulations and Company policies.
  • Assist the ASLA Australia Commercial Team by providing relevant crewing capability information for ADHOC Charter requests.
  • Analyse flight schedules for new commercial opportunities and provide minimum crewing requirements to the Commercial Team.
  • Liaise with the Flight Operations Training Department to ensure all planned training activities is effectively rostered whilst maintaining a stable roster for all scheduled lines of flying.
  • Promptly and efficiently action ‘day of operations’ scheduling / crewing conflicts, travel disruptions, or any issues which might result in a network disruption or cancellation.
  • Verify and submit crew Allowance Claims to the Payroll Team in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Extract Flight Crew data to create, analyse and submit Flight Crew utilisation reports and statistics as requested by the Management Team.
  • Create and maintain workflow management systems to ensure all tasks are actioned within cut off times.
  • Generate reports and analyse data to identify trends or areas for improvement, focusing on policy adherence.
  • Liaise with the Rostering system provider to ensure Air Crew work practices accurately reflect regulatory rules and regulations.
  • Perform ADHOC and periodical rostering system audits and complete administration tasks within set timelines to ensure all system errors are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Crewing and Travel Coordinator in all aspects of aircrew travel, including booking flights, accommodations, ground transportation and forwarding travel documentation.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new Air Crew – this will include all activities related to Aircrew uniform ordering and distribution.
  • Perform Data Capturing activities as requested. These might include capturing Flight Log Data and signing off Air Crew Timesheets.
  • Maintain competence on the basis of continued education and training in area of responsibility which includes, but are not limited to applicable crew Awards and CAO 48.1 Appendix 2 (Pilot Flight and Duty regulations) - The company will assist / facilitate all periodical training requirements.
  • Any additional tasks as delegated by direct Manager

Experience & qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in crewing, rostering, aviation operations or a related field.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulations and compliance, including those issued by aviation authorities such as CASA.
