About the roleAt Catholic Care we are currently seeking a Crisis Support WorkerDomestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) to join our growing team, providing an after-hours crisis response to Women and Families escaping Domestic/ Family Violence within the Northern Sydney District on a casual basis.The service operates in the evening and the successful incumbent will be required to work between 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, providing both telephone and face to face support to Women and their children who have been temporarily placed in emergency accommodation or who require a crisis response within the community. The key responsibilities will include providing assessment, crisis counselling, safety planning, immediate accommodation options and practical support to clients and has a strong focus on external stakeholders engagement and working partnerships.This is a Casual position, providing after-business hours roster that includes evenings and weekends. Due to nature of our operations, no flexible working option is applicable for this role, and the successful incumbent will need to work from the office in Marsfield.Being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).Key accountabilities:
  • Promote a u0027risk-awareu0027 culture where staff proactively identify, report and address all forms of risk to clients, staff and CatholicCare.
  • Provide ongoing safety planning and Crisis Support services to clients who are at risk.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all stakeholders including managing and reporting all incidents, following organisational policies for mandatory reporting, child protection, safeguarding and WHS
  • Screen the suitability of individuals and families accessing the service and making referrals to other services, where appropriate
  • Assist and engage with client’s in crisis requiring emergency accommodation
  • Collaborate with other service providers and local community groups and provide community education.
To be successful in this role, you will be required have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate area e.g., Degree in Social Work, Degree Social Science/Welfare, Degree in Psychology/Counselling, or related discipline and/or demonstrated relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of domestic/family violence including knowledge and familiarity with the dynamics of abusive relationships, legal matters, child. protection and custody issues; ability to support complex and/or high-level needs.
  • Experience in providing Crisis Support and intervention services to people experiencing domestic and/or family violence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and support services.
  • A current valid, Australian driver’s license and insured vehicle.
