About the role

Grampians Health is located in the Central Highlands of Victoria and is the main public referral health service to a catchment population of around 250 000 people across the Grampians region. The Critical Care Unit is a 13 bed unit and admits around 1250 patients every year and provides care for high dependency and Intensive Care patients, in addition to non-surgical cardiac patients.

• Therapies provided in the Critical Care unit include invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, haemofiltration, invasive haemodynamic monitoring, temporary cardiac pacing and delivery of inotropic and vasopressor agents.
• The unit has a close-knit multidisciplinary team that value leadership and excellence in healthcare
• Can commit to a rotating roster including weekends and night shift; with 8,10 and 12 hour shifts available.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based nursing care
• Develops professional practice in accordance with the health needs of the population and changing patterns of disease and illness
• Acts as a patient advocate and demonstrates a commitment to the patients "Charter of Healthcare Rights and "Charter of Residents' Rights and Responsibilities.

Skills and experience

• Postgraduate certificate or diploma in Critical Care.
• Registered with AHPRA.
• Recent clinical experience working in ICU and/or CCU.
• Committed to providing high quality patient centred care and advocacy.
• Demonstrate a high level of clinical assessment, reasoning and judgement.
• Excellent time management and communication skills

This position is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2020 - 2024. The classification is Registered Nurse Grade 2 (YP2 - YP9) which ranges from $34.17 - $48.26 per hour.

All appointments are subject to a satisfactory police records check, immunisation clearance and Working with Children check and/or NDIS Worker Screening Check.

All employees must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required, which at a minimum is a surgical mask.  Additional PPE requirements are role-dependent.
