About the role:
An exciting opportunity to utilise and develop your experience in Cyber Security in this newly created position. This role will work closely with the Cyber Security Manager to contribute to various organisation wide security improvement initiatives, governance initiatives, self-assessments and audits, and is a brilliant opportunity for those wanting to take the next step in their information/Cyber Security career.
The Cyber Security Analyst plays a crucial role in safeguarding BHI’s information assets from Cyber Security threats by implementing and monitoring Cyber Security controls. This role will work closely with team members within the IT Services Department and will actively engage with a range of individuals and teams across the wider organisation to assist in the development and management of Cyber/Information Security controls; especially those controls that apply to the protection of critical information assets and systems. The Cyber Security Analyst will be expected to contribute to various organisational security improvement initiatives, improving governance practices, security self-assessments and internal/external audits.
About You:
Relevant degree qualification and experience in Cyber Security or similar field and/or industry recognised Cyber/Information certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CISM.
- Industry Experience: Experience working in Cyber Security or related field (eg. An IT Department with security responsibilities).
- Cyber/Information Security Products and Services: Solid understanding of the purpose and use of different security technologies, tools and services used to detect, prevent or respond to security threats and events. These include, but are not limited to End-Point Device, Server and Database Security, Multi-factor Authentication (MFA), Security Incident & Event Monitoring (SIEM), Perimeter/DMZ Security, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Identity & Access Management (IDAM), Vulnerability Detection and Cloud Services.
- Information Asset Management: Knowledge in executing asset discovery and vulnerability scans (configuring scan targets, scan credentials) using freely available tools (e.g. OpenVAS, Nessus, Nmap).
- Network Security: Good Understanding of networking concepts (architecture, networking protocols, technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN’s Firewall and routers).
- Security Controls: Experience with computer network penetration testing and techniques. Ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities and explain how to avoid them. Understanding of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts. Knowledge of host compromise & malware injection techniques.
- Patch Management Experience: Understanding of patch management with the ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with cloud infrastructure and provisioning technology.
- Problem Solving: Proven ability to analyse issues and seek relevant information from stakeholders to identify and propose workable solutions to problems.
- Drive and Commitment: Enthusiastic and committed, demonstrates ability to set high standards of performance for self and others and enjoys a vigorous and dynamic work environment. Team player who thrives on working collaboratively and skilled at influencing without formal authority.
