The Program
Cyber Audit Team (CAT), together with our educational partner Griffith University (GU), are thrilled to have been selected to deliver our joint initiative - The Cyber Skills Enrichment Program (CSEP).
This program is designed to unlock Queensland’s Cyber Security potential and bolster the Cyber Security workforce by increasing the ‘quality and quantity’ of job-ready skilled workers in this field.
Under this program, candidates will receive hands-on, practical Cyber Security training that will assist them enter and thrive within the field of Cyber Security.
The Opportunity
We have a limited number of paid, full-time and part-time industry placements (from 3-6 months) available for individuals looking to enter, transition into, or gain practical experience in Cyber Security, all while broadening their industry knowledge and skills in this field.
If you’re an aspiring Cyber Security professional who demonstrates strong IT skills or emerging to intermediate Cyber Security skills, and you’re keen to gain a position in Cyber Security, then you may be eligible to apply for a paid industry placement.
These paid placements will allow you to gain valuable real-world experience while continuing to develop your Cyber Security skills and knowledge through role-specific training and mentoring.
On successful completion of the program, you will possess relevant skills and knowledge to be considered ‘job-ready’, increasing your employability and opening doors within the exciting and emerging industry of Cyber Security.

Selection criteria
All candidates must meet the mandatory requirements below and will be evaluated based on experience and qualifications.
We welcome and encourage applicants with varying levels of experience and expertise to apply.
Mandatory Requirements
- Must be over 18
- Must have the right to live and work in Australia
- The program requires candidates to work from our Gold Coast offices, based near Griffith University in Southport, with a minimum of 60% of time spent in our office
- Provide or agree to appropriate references/background checks, including police checks
Technical proficiency
A demonstratable basic knowledge and/or understanding of information systems such as:
- Networking – subnets, DNS, DHCP, routing, hardware configuration
- Operating Systems – Windows, Mac, Linux
- Business Software – CRM, ERP, Microsoft 365
- Cloud Services – Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, SaaS solutions
- Management Services – RMM, Intune, SCCM
Prior exposure to basic IT security and Cyber Security principles such as:
- Account Protection – Passwords, Permissions
- Endpoint Protection - Antivirus/EDR
- Access Management – Permissions to folders and/or services
- Patch Management – Installing software and operating system updates
- Prior experience in a technical support role is advantageous but not essential
Educational background
- Formal education and qualifications in IT or Cyber Security are advantageous but not essential
Learning Aptitude and Enthusiasm
- Demonstrate a strong desire to learn about or expand knowledge of Cyber Security concepts and practices
- Exhibit a proactive attitude towards acquiring new skills in the field
Communication Skills
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate effective communication skills within a team environment
Personal Attributes
- Exhibit logical thinking and analytical skills when approaching technical challenges
- Demonstrate integrity and responsibility in handling sensitive information
- Effectively manage time to balance learning, tasks and responsibilities
- Work well in a team environment, collaborating with peers and mentors
Remuneration
- Successful candidates will be offered a standard industry salary commensurate with skills, qualifications, and/or experience.
