Dance Teacher

Salary: $70,000-$75,000 + superannuation, per year

Dance Theatre of Orange, a thriving, unique and vibrant dance institution inOrange, NSW, is seeking a passionate and experienced Full-Time Dance Teacher tojoin our dedicated team. As a Dance Teacher, you will play a pivotal role innurturing and developing the talents of our diverse student body, guiding themin their journey through the world of dance.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Planning programs:Designing comprehensive and engaging dance programs for individual students andgroups, tailored to their needs and abilities.

·        Theory of dance:Preparing and delivering educational content on the theory of dance, enhancingstudents' knowledge and appreciation of the art.

·        Practical and encouraging instruction:Instructing and demonstrating practical aspects of dance techniques in avariety of genres, fostering students' physical and creative development.

·        Recognising problems and providingexercises: Tailoring training exercises to address students'unique training needs and talents in a way that fosters acceptance anddevelopment and considers and supports any physical or mental limitations thatthe student may have.

·        Assessment and feedback:Evaluating students' progress, providing constructive feedback, and offeringencouragement to facilitate their growth both in the art and personally.

·        Curriculum development:Continuously improving curricula, course content, materials, and teachingmethods to stay current and relevant in dance as a modern and traditional artform.

·        Examinations and performances:Utilising group and individual tuition to prepare students for examinations andassessments as required, as well as preparation for performances including endof year recitals and eisteddfods, to ensure that they are well-prepared toshowcase their talents.

·        Professional development:Participating in continuing professional development by attending conferences,seminars, and courses. Reading current literature on dance performance and teachingmethods to ensure exceptional teaching. Liaising with teaching colleagues onbest methods of practice.

·        Student exposure:Organising visits to professional exhibitions and performances (this isimportant as we are in a regional area), and when suitable, arrangingexhibitions or performances of students' work to foster students’ confidence intheir art and abilities.

Qualifications andSkills:

·        Experience: Idealcandidates should have at least 5 years’ experience teaching, and experiencemanaging a dance school would be a bonus.

·        Qualifications: Mustbe qualified with the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.). Qualifications with theImperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D.) or an equivalent Modern andTap Syllabus are a plus.

·        Teaching Range:Experience in teaching both infants and adults is highly desirable.
